Description

In this workshop, we will focus on many elements that should be considered when painting a lighthouse in watercolor. First, we will discuss the importance of composition. Next, we will cover perspective including elliptical forms. We will then consider what to include and how to render the environment the lighthouse is in. The importance of a direct light source that creates strong shadows will be conveyed. Color usage will also be addressed. A demonstration will be given on how to create a flat wash for the sky. How to render some values and textures will also be introduced. Images of lighthouses will be supplied or students may bring their own. A supply list will be provided upon request (the instructor recognizes it is a one-day workshop so students may use supplies they currently own.)
