Signature Member Of The Baltimore Watercolor Society

Jennifer Littleton (JM) is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland, where she completed the MAT program under Dr. Karen Carroll from Columbia University. JM also completed the Sculpture Studies program, BFA, under well known figurative sculptor, Tylden Streett. She teaches for several colleges, including Frederick Community College & Howard Community College. Howard Community College presented JM with the Faculty Instructor of the Year award for 2014-15.

JM is on an “Excellence of Teaching list” for Maryland colleges, and she won a faculty award for Community College of Baltimore County in 2018.

In 1994, JM founded the Littleton School Of Art in Towson, Maryland. She is an Award-Winning Artist and International Exhibitor and is a Signature Member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society.

Alaska Watercolor Society, National Juried Exhibition, 2022. J.M Littleton’s Watercolor painting of Giraffes, titled “See Me In The Light Of The Sun” was selected by Juror Andy Evansen.

American Watercolor Society, Associate Members International Juried Exhibition, 2022. J.M Littleton’s Watercolor painting of Giraffes, titled “See Me In The Light Of The Sun” was selected by Juror Joel Popadics, AWS.

The Baltimore Watercolor Society Mid-Atlantic Juried Exhibition (2013, 2017) featured JM’s work. 

The San Diego Watercolor Society International Juried Exhibition, the American Watercolor Society International Juried Exhibition on 5th Avenue in New York, and the National Watercolor Society National Juried Show in Los Angeles, California have all featured JM’s work.

Awards

In BWS Signature Member Exhibitions, JM won 2nd place for the painting "See Me in All My Glory" and 3rd place for "Sometimes It's So Hard to Let Go." International Juror, Frank Eber awarded JM the Silver Medal of Honor for the Mid Atlantic Exhibition in 2017. JM's painting, “See Us in Our Shadows” (Zebras), was in the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society’s International Juried Exhibition, where JM won the Excellence in Figure Award from James McFarlane, President of the American Watercolor Society.

Workshops

JM is sought out for workshops for her realistic style, transparent washes, also knowledge and use of color theory. JM has taught numerous workshops nationally including the Hilton Head Art League in South Carolina for two summers. In August of 2016 she was hosted by the San Diego Watercolor Society for a two day Workshop in addition she judged their competition and was Jury of Awards on the third day. JM gave a Realistic Watercolor Workshop to the Mispillion Art League in DE, in December of 2017. Rhode Island Watercolor Society, RI , Guilford Art Center, CT, Nashua Art Association, NH, New Day Arts Center, Martinsburg, WV, Ocean City Art League, Ocean City, MD, Plaza Arts, Towson, MD, Carroll Community College, Westminster, MD, Frederick Community College, Frederick, MD and Rehoboth Art League, DE all featured JM for Workshops in 2018. In 2019, JM was hosted by Plaza Arts, Towson, MD, Mystic Museum of Art, Mystic, CT, New Day Arts Center, Martinsburg, WV, Ocean City Art League, Ocean City, MD, J. Cruess/Yacht Club, Ocean Pines, MD, Cultural Arts Center at Glen Ellen, Richmond, VA , Jamestown Art Center, Jamestown, RI, Cross Roads Art Center, Richmond, VA and River Tree Arts, Kennebunkport, ME.

In The News

Feature articles appeared in two Delaware newspapers in 2017, The Milford Chronicle, “Workshop to feature Award Winning Artist”, as well as The Cape Gazette, “Reception with Artist”. JM was also “The Cover Story” in The Telegraph Newspaper, Nashua, NH, in 2018. JM completed a New England lecture tour in March, 2018. She was hosted by six art/watercolor associations including the Newton Watercolor Society in Boston, MA, Nashua Art Association and the Rhode Island Watercolor Society. In addition, JM’s art school, Littleton School of Art, has been selected by “Expertise.com”, to be in the “Top 18, Best Painting & Drawing Teachers in Baltimore for 2018-2020 out of 151 schools” they critiqued, and the only school so honored that has a single owner/instructor. The Littleton School of Art was so very honored to be the 2019 home of “The Charcoal Club of Baltimore” which is the second oldest art club in the United States.
