Description
As difficult as it is to interpret objects in a realistic fashion in watercolor, it is mystifying to most how to even begin to reproduce glass in watercolor. In the first portion of the class, students will enjoy viewing and discussing works from the following artists; Brenda Hounshell, David L. Stickel, Sean Stickel, Robin Erickson and Soon Y. Warren. These watercolor artist include glass in their compositions in very different ways. Some are very contemporary with how they reveal reflections via store fronts. Others utilize still life with classical compositions. Students will enjoy viewing and learning how top professional watercolor artists approach this subject. Then there will be a transition to the studio portion where Ms. Littleton will have a demonstration study initiated. Students will be able to view Ms. Littleton’s pallet and painting study while she works. Students are invited to paint along or simply observe. Students are free to ask questions about any part of the process during the demonstration. An image will be provided or students can furnish their own. Ms. Littleton enjoys delivering serious training in a fun atmosphere. Join her for this informative and entertaining workshop.

Required supplies

• HB graphite pencil, kneaded eraser.
• Paper- Strathmore watercolor paper , suggested, 18” x 24”, 140 lb. pad or similar quality, no smaller than 12” x 16” (prefer bigger).
• Masonite board, 2-3 bulldog clips, and masking or painters tape (students may bring a similar quality board).
• Brushes- round brushes, #10, #12 (if you have more rounds that is preferable). Recommended brush types, white sable, synthetic sable, Robert Simmons, Sapphire, Scepter Gold or similar quality. Recommended (not required), one container of The Masters brush cleaner B&J.
• One rectangular palette with numerous reservoirs for paint, San Francisco slant palette, one medium size container for water (never used for anything but watercolor painting).
• Watercolor paints- Lemon Yellow, Winsor Red, (professional grade) and Cobalt Blue. Secondary colors- Emerald Green, Mauve (Grumbacher ) or Dioxazine Violet (Cotman) and Cadmium Orange (Grumbacher or Winsor Newton Cotman tube paint).

Recommended Supplies:
Apron, or dress appropriately.

• On-line- Cheap Joes, Dick Blick (downtown store or online).

*** Students who have supplies from other classes may want to bring them if they are similar to ones stated above. However, pupils will need specific materials, such as, tube paint including above listed colors from those brands (not pans), reasonable quality brushes, and a large palette with several wells for mixing.
